Love and relationships aren’t always sunshine and rainbows or a nice neat little box with a bow around it. Sometimes love and relationships make you feel like you’re walking on cloud nine and other times they are messy, complicated, and can absolutely break your heart. That’s what my song ‘Love’s Crush’ is about.
Musically it’s in the key of F minor and I love the uses of the chords in the right hand giving it a bit of dissonance and sweet melancholy. I also included the use of cello with the piano to give it this back and forth dialog. Sometimes the piano speaks then the cello answers and intertwined giving it this beautifully sad back and forth as if if two lovers are communicating their lament to each other.
I just adore this song. I think it’s one of my favorites in my catalog.
