Ode to a Composer: behind the music

‘Ode to a Composer’ is actually a take on the Canon in D (AKA Pachelbel’s Canon in D) by Johann Pachelbel. Even though it was originally written in the Baroque era of music, it’s still one of the most instantly recognizable compositions and played almost ad nauseam at weddings.

My version is actually in F Major. (One and a half steps above the original key) I arranged it so long ago I don’t remember why I changed the keys lol. It starts off in the upper register of the piano like a music box and gradually adds different variations on the theme.
